Oscars Before and Afters!
Today we’re trying something a little different. In trivia, a Before and After is a type of clue in which there are two answers with a shared middle that get mashed together.
Example 1: A boy who can see dead people watches Elinor and Marianne Dashwood get married in 19th century England.
Answer: The Sixth Sense and Sensibility (the first clue is referencing The Sixth Sense and the latter clue is referencing Sense and Sensibility, and so you mash them together to get your Before and After answer).
Example 2: The world’s greatest playwright falls for Viola de Lesseps and writes eight interrelated tales set before Christmas in London.
Answer: Shakespeare in Love, Actually
Example 3 (and this one’s my favorite): Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy star in a 1988 Pedro Almodovar film.
Answer: Little Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown
