The other major YOK Year in Review event, besides the tournament, was my collab with NAQT Buzzword. The event concluded on Tuesday, January 2nd, and featured 193 players from around the United States and the globe.
Fifty audio clues later … the winner is KANE KELLER from Louisiana. Congrats to Kane for a very quick and impressive performance! Your top 15 leaderboard can be seen below:
I want to shout out YOK subscribers DYLAN MINARIK (IL), ROWAN WARD (IL), JASON HESS (TX), EWAN MUNRO (AUS), KENJI SHIMIZU (MI), ANDREW ULLSPERGER (IL), CHARLIE FRITZ (IL), and JEFF RICHMOND (CA) for placing in the top 15! Hot damn, that Illinois contingent coming in real strong.
If you missed out on playing, here are a sampling of questions below.
Remember, the faster you ring in, the more points you earn. So if you would have rung in on the first sentence or so, you would have picked up 18-20 points (20 being the max). If you waited until the clue finished to answer correctly, you would have scored 10 points. Let’s see how would you have done!

And here were the 10 answer lines with the lowest get rates:
I’m sad to see my girl Coco Gauff played so low — between Coco, Nikola Jokic, and C.J. Stroud, it seems quizzers had a hard time recalling the major sports stars of 2023! (I did warn you in a previous issue that Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud would be making an appearance on this quiz).
Thank you to Andrew Hart and the good folks over at NAQT for having me! It was a lot of fun to do all the recordings and figure out how to pronounce Abdourahamane Tchiani (general who led the Niger coup) and Bernardo Arevalo (president-elect of Guatemala).
If you missed out on playing this year-end event, don’t worry, we may be cooking up some more NAQT collabs soon. Now that you know how the format works, you’re hopefully incentivized to check out future games.
Thanks again to all those who played and we’ll keep you posted on opportunities to mash the buzzer quickly!
