Omygoodness, so much pop culture has transpired since YOK was last in your inboxes, from a “Gnarly” K-pop release causing rampant Internet discussion to Tom Cruise swinging from bi-planes, as per usual.
I caught the latest Mission: Impossible over Memorial Day weekend — I’m not sure if the stakes of Ethan Hunt’s “final reckoning” were clear enough after hearing them stated for the twentieth time in the first fifty minutes. While the action of the franchise remains a 10/10, the writing leaves much to be desired.

1. The Southern horror movie that stormed the US box office in April was SINNERS, directed by Ryan Coogler of Black Panther fame. Sinners is easily my favorite movie of the year so far, a crowd-pleasing popcorn blockbuster with one of the best musical sequences I’ve seen on film.
I didn’t know that I needed vampires and Irish jigs in the middle of a period piece about the South, but now I want more of it. I’ve been listening to the soundtrack repeatedly since watching the movie. If you missed Sinners the first time around in theaters, it should be back in IMAX now.
2. BILL BELICHICK has certainly been making his way around town — the 8 Super Bowl rings the former New England Patriots coach has won may now be joined by a ninth ring … on the finger of his 24-year old girlfriend Jordan Hudson.
Hudson has quickly inundated herself in Belichick’s life, asking for access to football practices at the University of North Carolina, where the 73-year old Belichick is now stationed. The Miss Maine USA second runner-up also had a much publicized showdown on CBS News’ Sunday Morning, where she shut down questions about how the couple met.
I don’t know what Hudson’s end game is … but I hope she gets that bag for herself.
